More Than Eggs: Sharing The Message of Resurrection Day

It’s Easter Sunday! It is NOT about bunnies and picking up eggs that have been sparsely thrown throughout the backyard. Most of us, honestly, do not even know the real meaning of celebrating Easter. It is Resurrection Sunday!

This is the time to celebrate the fact that Someone decided to give His life for us sinners. That Someone is Jesus! The Jesus we all talk about but hardly know. Jesus died a horrendous death for us sinners on the Cross for the forgiveness of our sins that we often take for granted. Think about it!

Do you think a family member or group of friends will give their life for you? In tough situations we may find ourselves fighting life and death, do you think they will come to your rescue? It is a tough question but someone can't do what Jesus can do which is the forgiveness of our sins. Saving our souls from the terrible choices we make daily.

Here’s a personal testimony, a time when I had to learn not to lean or trust in people. I had my first surgery ever a few years ago, and during surgery recovery, God had to show me that even people I trusted in were going to fail me. I had to understand, one way or another, what the Lord said in Jeremiah 17:5 (NIV), “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord.” We go through life experiences to learn lessons that otherwise we will not understand on our own. God proved to me that even leaders can fail.

As I was going through surgery recovery NOBODY went to see me, texted me, or called me to see if I was okay. A church leader came to see me, but her heart was not in the right place at that time. She said, “I will go see her so that she won’t say that I never went to see her.” This shows, my dear Queens, that we can’t lean on or trust in people.

If we put all our trust in people first, we will encounter many disappointments in life. We can’t expect too much from people. Why? Because they can fail us at any time. Jesus is our true friend!

John 15:13 (ESV) says, “Great love has no one than this, that Someone lay down His life for His friends.”

For this reason and many others, we celebrate Resurrection Day today.

What a friend we have in Jesus!
