Transform Your Days: A Purposeful Morning Routine Rooted in God's Word

The first step is to think about how to start the day right. This is the base for a morning routine and work on our self-discipline to spend quality time with God. What better time than to make this a daily practice at the beginning of a new year? But don't let this stop you. Honestly, you can begin a new routine any time of the year. The key is to get started and make it a priority to spend time with God, especially if you have been slipping away. God's unfailing love (Genesis 24:27) supports us (2 Samuel 22:18) when we feel like we're rushing (Ezekiel 43:2) and need to slow down (2 Kings 4:24).

Starting our day right will allow us to be firmly planted (Psalm 1:3) in the Word of God. This will help us hunger for God's presence and His Word, creating a special craving to be with God. We will realize that, when we don't spend time with Him, something is missing. Our day may not go as planned and may seem chaotic at times. When we realize this is happening, then we will go back and think whether we have allocated that time to spend with God or we just simply didn't follow through that day.

The beauty of this process is that we need to open our minds and be aware of what's happening around us and in our lives. We will conclude that without God we can do nothing (John 15:5) and this should give us the hint that we should prioritize time with God before starting our day. I see this journey as part of a time management routine. Over the years, I've been following the 5 Things Successful People Do Before 8 am as part of my daily routine. When I first tried this, I noticed how one goal I set was accomplished within one month of applying this morning routine. What's interesting was that I was craving this morning routine every single day because when I do this intentionally, my time with God becomes purposeful. Isn't that what we want?

This is what can happen when we intentionally spend time with the Lord:

1. We learn not to get offended easily (Psalm 139:24).

2. We do not rush through life (Daniel 8:6).

3. We will learn how to slow down (2 Kings 4:24).

4. We will be firmly planted (Psalm 1:3).

These things will be incorporated into our lives when we are diligent with our time. This is how we can apply God's Word to our daily routine to better serve God and the people who need what we have to offer. God called us to serve others as well as serve Him. We are the vessels of God (Isaiah 42:6) who will spread the good news of the Gospel to the people who need to hear it.

But, what are the things we can learn?

1. We will focus on God and serve Him completely.

2. We will learn the deepest roots of servanthood.

3. We will experience the heart of Jesus.

4. We will learn how to live in obedience to God.

5. We will trust God fully despite our circumstances.

6. We will have a strong belief in God.

7. We will learn how to live in faith.

God's Word can do so much more than the natural eye can see. The Word of God supports, strengthens, and directs us. Praise God for His goodness and greatness in our lives. Let not difficult circumstances, people, and life in general deviate us from walking with God.
