Rise and Reign: A Queen's Guide To Morning Empowerment

As we continue to learn about dedicating our mornings to God through the devotional from Joyce Meyer "Starting Your Day Right," we will see how this specific topic relates so much to time management, self-discipline, and consistency. I have to say that this particular topic has been on my mind for years since the Lord changed the name of my women's ministry to Queen of Your Own Domain. Years passed until I realized in 2023 what it meant to be a Queen of Your Own Domain. It has nothing to do with control or doing this your way. It has more to do with 2 Timothy 1:7 "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline" (NIV). Another translation says, "Be strong, because God has given us His Spirit. And His Spirit does not cause us to be afraid. Instead, His Spirit causes us to be powerful to serve God. He helps us to love God and other people. And He helps us to control ourselves properly" (EASY).

Before we get out of our bed (Galatians 5:7), we should wear the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18). The moment we put our feet on the ground, the enemy knows we are ready to battle the day's hardships with God on our side. But if we do not prepare ourselves before we get out of bed, we may not be able to face what's ahead. It is important to tackle those defeating thoughts (2 Corinthians 10:4-5) with the Word of God in the morning.

Our morning routines begin even before we step out of our beds. It's deciding to start the day with God, and if we are feeling hopeless, faithless, and negative (Psalm 34:17-20), reminding ourselves that we have been redeemed (Isaiah 44:22) can get our lives on the right path. It takes some preparation before we get out of bed and get going with our lives. The outcomes are determined by what we do before we get out of bed. Isn't that amazing?

Resist the devil (James 4:7) and his evil ways by immersing ourselves in the Word of God. Speaking to God early in the morning and casting your cares on Him (1 Peter 5:7-10). Take every thought captive (2 Corinthians 10:5) before getting out of bed. These are secret weapons we can utilize to take control of our mornings.

God will do what we cannot do and for this reason, we should trust God's power (Proverbs 3:5-6). We do not have the answers to all the questions. We do not have all the solutions for our problems. God can make a way where there is no way. I remember a time when we didn't have any food in our fridge or our electricity was about to get shut off, but let me tell you that's a lesson I had to learn. The lesson was to be fully dependent on God. God made a way and our electricity was restored. It didn't happen right away, but it DID happen. God has blessed us in so many ways and I have seen God's goodness and greatness in my life. I have to share that with my audience and with anyone who wants to listen. What God continues doing for us, can make it happen for you as well.

I can testify of His goodness and greatness and this is living a victorious life (Deuteronomy 20:4). Being victorious doesn't mean material, physical things. That doesn't matter when God has taken us out of the darkest moments in our lives. But never forget to learn the lessons that come with it. This is what sharing our testimony is all about. We are focusing on the Creator of the heavens and earth, not material possessions.
